Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) are flexible and effective tools for protecting process plants. SIS can be configured in many ways to meet multiple process and performance goals. Kenexis assists clients in utilizing Safety Instrumented Systems by providing support for design, verification, and ongoing mechanical integrity programs. This assistance includes risk-based assessment of Safety Integrity Levels (SIL), development of Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS), quantitative design verification (SIL Verification), test planning and support, and ongoing performance assessment and auditing. Comprehensive Equipment Failure Rate Database
Vertigo utilizes an extensive database of sensor, logic solver, and final element failure rate data, developed based on years of experience gained by Kenexis engineers and consultants. This database includes failure rate data collected from published industry sources as well as data gathered by Kenexis from customer sites worldwide in both generic and application-specific formats. In addition, vendor-specific data for the most popular instrument types and models, based on third-party SIL certification tests, is included.
SIL Verification Compliant with ISA TR84.00.02-2002 - Part 2
SIL Verification calculations can be performed on Vertigo via a simple and easy-to-use interface. All calculations performed by the Vertigo Calculation Engine are comprehensively verified and compliant with the practice recommended by ISA TR84.00.02 Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF) – Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Evaluation Techniques Part 2: Determining the SIL of a SIF via Simplified Equations.
Robust SRS Data Structure
The software allows users to rapidly develop SRS documentation through an intuitive data structure. It simplifies the SRS creation process by preventing duplicate entries while providing output in multiple formats tailored to the document user's needs. Requirements are collected both at the individual instrument level within a SIF and at the overall system/project level. In addition to written requirements, Vertigo automatically generates a concise and effective functional logic presentation of your system via cause-and-effect diagrams.

Kenexis Vertigo™ is part of the integrated online engineering software suite provided by Kenexis. Any licensed user can access our secure cloud-based model using any browser on a computer or tablet. This unique architecture ensures the software is always available and up-to-date with the latest performance metrics and source databases. Our solution enables licensed users to share project information with contractors and EPCs, while empowering Kenexis Process Engineers to assist with project support, outsourcing, and the verification and validation of your analyses.
