Designed for Process Safety
Like all applications within the Kenexis Integrated Safety Suite, Arbor is developed with a singular objective: to enable engineers to perform their tasks with the highest degree of accuracy and efficiency. This is achieved by involving our own process safety engineers in the development process to define requirements and by ensuring continuous improvement based on user feedback.
Robust Minimal Cut Set Reporting
Arbor allows users to visualize details of minimal cut set analysis through a clear and interactive interface, enabling the rapid identification of potential system weaknesses. It provides valuable statistical analysis, highlighting the most critical combinations of events that could lead to system failure. Consequently, it streamlines the sensitivity analysis process and the evaluation of alternative designs.
Utilization of the Kenexis Failure Rate Database
Kenexis builds and maintains a comprehensive database of failure rates for instrumentation and control equipment. An Arbor license provides full access to this database at no additional cost. Data can be integrated, processed, and applied to Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) with just a few clicks, saving significant time otherwise spent developing failure rate models. Our engineers utilize this data daily across multiple process safety studies, ensuring the information is thoroughly vetted and consistently up to date.
Integration with Vertigo
Arbor extends the functionality of Kenexis Vertigo™ SIS Lifecycle Management Software by providing an environment for complex SIL Verification calculations. By default, Vertigo performs SIL Verification according to the methods recommended in ISA TR84.00.02 (Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF) – Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Evaluation Techniques Part 2: Determining the SIL of a SIF via Simplified Equations). However, these simplified methods may be insufficient for complex systems.
The integration of Arbor’s Fault Tree Analysis application allows SIS designers to verify system designs quickly and simply, regardless of the complexity of failure modes. FTA results from Arbor can be easily linked to Safety Instrumented Functions within Vertigo for reporting purposes.
Comprehensive Software Environment
Kenexis Arbor™ Fault Tree Analysis software is a core component of the integrated online engineering suite provided by Kenexis. Licensed users can access our secure cloud-based platform using any browser on a computer or tablet. This unique architecture ensures the software is always available and updated with the latest performance metrics and source databases.
Our solution enables licensed users to share project information with contractors and EPCs, while empowering Kenexis Process Engineers to assist with project support, outsourcing, and the verification/validation of your analyses.
